Interesting Yahoo Mail Anti Spam feature
Ymail Antispam
For the need of a new site launch, I decided to create an email at Yahoo! Mail rather than with Gmail, the reason was Gmail was too crowded, it is easier to find an email with the less popular Ymail.
Ymail is less fancy than Gmail
Because it uses less AJAX script. The design is not as minimalist as Gmail and you have to click a dozen times before completing your Ymail creation. That is very annoying. No doubt Google beats Yahoo at usability. But the nice thing is you can enable a powerful antispam feature after you created your account and the email that comes along with.
Nowadays, there are so many services on the web you have to login, but wished you wouldn't need to, because you have to giveaway your email address, with the risk of your email used to spam you with lots of ads. There comes the Yahoo mail killer feature, Ymail allows you to create a secondary email, with this secondary email having the following naming rule : root + extension(figure)@ymail.com. The recipient of this secondary email is the same than the main email, it means it automatically forward to your main account.
The advent of throw away email
The trick is you use this secondary email to subscribe to any service in order to get what you want, if it happens after a while that you receive too many spams, you can delete this secondary email and create another one. You have no risk because the email simply doesn't exist. You can have as many secondary emails as you want. This is more eficient than any known antispam engine.
Wish you a Happy Chinese 2009 Year of the Ox !
